' How to get back together' Versus 'How to get over an ex'

by Robert Sinclair

Love is on everybody's mind. Sometimes it seems that the only problem in this world is love. 80% of what's projected from the television screens deals with the topic. Right around the corner is the next love series like the O.C. Even the history channel will talk about some queens medieval affair. Books are no different. The romantic section is probably one of the biggest ones and titles like how to get your ex back are readily available. In celebrity magazines we see the same thing. They publish information about celebrity breakups and cheating.

It's so evident that it's not even worth mentioning. We are clearly preoccupied by romance.

Please don't think I'm against it. On the contrary I'm all for love and think people should talk about it more, but in a slightly different form. I actually think that some industrialized countries should concentrate more on love. These countries see a diminishing population. In many of those countries people think more about their work and how they will succeed in life. While in reality success is often a matter of having a good family. Media praises money and riches and pays less attention to love. It's not to say that there are no 'love' shows in those countries. Alas, they show scenes of drama and tragedy, we don't see enough family happiness and unity. They show cheating adventures of a husband as if it was the norm. Why not show a faithful husband that comes home to spend time with his kids. We see the same trend in printed media. There are now more and more books that explain how to get over a bad breakup. Why is it so hard to find a book that will explain how to fix a relationship and help you get your lover back? Books that make you fight for your love and not give up should be more prevalent. When was the last time you saw a best seller like that?

In certain parts of the country 1 out of 3 couples divorces after a mere 2 years of marriage. This is too much. Did people stop trying to fix their problems and simply abandon ship? What happened to 'till death do us apart'? If a husband finds out that his wife is cheating he might jump the boat but... What caused this infidelity? Is it something that husband did not do? Could this be a one time thing, that can be prevented if the couple establishes a better spiritual connection? I think the 80 / 20 rule applies here too, where as 80 percent of the difference is caused by 20 percent of change. They say that number one reason that makes wives leave is the lack of appreciation.

So let's appreciate each other more. Let's concentrate on similarities and not the differences. Let's be understanding and patient towards one another. Let's choose affection instead of resentment. Because in the end of the day love always prevails.
