The Proper Skin Care and the Right Acne Products for Dry and Oily Skin

by Valerie Garner

Healthy skin is about more than just looking good. In fact, our skin is the largest organ in our body and it helps protect us from bacteria and infection. Without healthy skin, our bodies are susceptible to all kinds of problems.

The best skin care for you will depend largely on your type of skin. There are three basic types of skin, but this article will focus on only two.

Determining your Skin Type

This is the way to determine what type of skin you have. First of all, wash your face with a natural skin cleanser, rinse, and then pat dry. Wait for an hour and pay special attention to how your skin reacts. In essence, try and notice whether your skin feels tight or not.

Next, press a different piece of tissue paper on certain key areas of your face: your chin, your nose, the center of your cheeks, the outer part of you cheeks, the center of your forehead, and the outer part of your forehead. Look at the tissue and check for oily residue or flaky skin residue.

It is believed that you have dry skin if each tissue paper has flaky skin residue. You will have oily skin if each piece of tissue paper has oily residue. Having discovered your skin type will leave you better equipped to pick the right skin care routine for your skin. This includes finding the right skin products and acne products.

Skin Care for Dry and Oily Skin

Dry skin should be treated with great care. Products that contain fragrances and other fillers usually irritate dry skin. This is why it is a good idea to stay away from these types of products.

Dry skin care should use a cream or oil cleanser followed by a moisturizer. Exfoliation is also an important step for dry skin. For a gentle exfoliation you can try using natural products like milk or grape juice.

Oily skin care also requires cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing. For this type of skin you are better off using foaming cleansers. The best type of treatment for this skin type are mechanical exfoliators and water-based moisturizers.

The Best Acne Products for Dry and Oily Skin

Both oily skin and dry skin types can suffer from acne. The best acne creams for each skin type contain different ingredients especially catered to their necessities.

Oily skin can withstand harsh ingredients found in most traditional acne products. To control acne in these skin types, make sure that your acne products contain salicylic acid, retinoids and/or benzoyl peroxide. These ingredients are especially recommended because they help control excess sebum production, clogged pores, and acne bacteria.

Dry skin should also be kept adequately moisturized in order to help control acne problems. Non-comedogenic oils that won't irritate your skin are castor oil and olive oil. However, instead of products containing benzoyl peroxide, try using creams that contain tea tree oil.

For acne skin care to be successful, it must be catered to each type of skin. Natural skin care products such as BIOSKINCLEAR and BIOACNECARE are excellent treatments for acne because they are gentle yet effective. These natural skin care products contain biological ingredients that help fight acne without causing irritation.
