Burn Scars: Treatment Options for Minor to Moderate Burn Scars

by Samara Al Romaithi

Burns can be produced by a number of different situations that include being exposed to chemicals, electrical currents, and intense heat or radiation. The level of severity will depend on the extent of the burned area and its depth. Moderate burns will usually leave heavy scarring while severe burns can go as far as being life threatening.

The scars left by burns can also affect a person's quality of life. Burns that have been caused by fire can cause constrictive scars that require surgery and grafting. While, quite on the contrary, minor burns may not even leave any noticeable scars after they have healed.

Basic Treatment Options for Minor Burn Scars

Burn scars treatment used to treat minor injuries is quite straightforward. In this case, someone has probably suffered a first degree burn which needs to be cooled down immediately to keep the surrounding tissue from suffering damage.

The burn can be cooled down by applying cool or lukewarm running water. Cold water is too shocking for the skin and can cause more damage than the actual burn. Hot water is, of course, not advisable because it can actually continue the burning process.

If the burn has been cooled down the person should take a mild painkiller and rest. After the pain and burning sensation have diminished, you can begin treating the affected area. Make sure you use gentle products because it is important that you not cause any further irritation to the wound.

Make sure that you use a good moisturizing product to treat the burn. This is necessary because a burn will cause the moisture in your skin to evaporate while drying-out the skin for a certain period of time. An excellent choice, in cases such as this, is rose hip seed oil which will absorb quickly and help soothe the skin. Products containing snail serum also have a soothing effect and help boost the rate of skin growth.

After having used these products for a couple of weeks, you'll notice that your skin is looking better and will soon be back to normal. It is normal for the damaged area to be slightly darker than the surrounding tissue; however, this problem will fade with time. But if you're not willing to wait to see improvement you can also try microdermabrasion for burn scars.

Some Treatment Options for Moderate Burn Scars

The biggest problem with moderate burns is that they can change the texture of your skin permanently and lead to some scarring. These burns usually take about three to four weeks to heal and generally produce hypertrophic scars. After the wound has healed you can begin using a burn scar treatment.

A doctor may suggest surgery, injections, compression therapy or resurfacing treatments, but this will depend on the extent of the scar tissue. Nevertheless, if the area being treated is small then you can benefit greatly by using a resurfacing technique such as microdermabrasion.

Scar removal with microdermabrasion is very popular because it is a no-hassles type of treatment that doesn't produce pain, unlike so more invasive options. It will require, however, several sessions to eliminate scar tissue.

BIOSKINEXFOL is a wonderful product that is made with natural ingredients and can help treat skin burns effectively. Because of its amazing blend of soothing ingredients and abrading microcrystals, burn scar removal is simple. You can't prevent burn scars, but BIOSKINEXFOL makes it easy to treat them.
